What are pins in a USB Cable?
I get emails to my account when there are online deals. One deal that I was seriously considering was a retail $30 USB Sync Cable for iPhone 4/4s. I think it is a 3rd party company but it says the following: "Today we bring you the 30 Pin USB Sync and charging cable for iPhone/iPod users." What are these pins? Do all apple compatible cables need "30 pins". Thanks for all of your help.
Added (1). These cables are from Hong Kong. 3rd party. Do you think they will last or are they going to break easily?
No 30 pins are for iphone 3, 4, 4s
I don't know what gimmick they are trying to sell but USB cables only have 4 pins in the connector plus the external metallic part which serves as the ground (negative). Anything in excess of the 4+1 is unusual.
