What are some apps that still work with iOS 3.1?
I have an iPhone that I'm using as an iPod that I would like to get some apps for. Very old!
There are not many left as most updated versions of apps need ios 4.3 or higher now. If you can get at least ios 4.2.1 for it, there are a litte more handful of apps that work on that platform. If you want new apps, you need a new device to be able to run them. Save up $200 and you can get an iPod touch 4th gen that is updated all the way to ios 6.0.1 and can run every app from the store. Sorry but that's how apple makes money (and is all about it) is by pushing developers to update their apps to require newer versions of ios, eventually, phasing out older devices that can't get ios updates anymore. Just just creates more e waste for all the still perfectly working and functioning ios devices that can't get the latest version because they said so. Like iPhone original and iPhone 3G are the same thing other than 3G and GPS hardware but same processor and ram. Why is it that original iPhone can only be updated to ios 3.1.3 but iPhone 3G can go all the way to ios 4.2.1? If they are going to limit iphone original because of hardware reasons, it should technically handle ios 4.2.1 and they should at the very least do so. But since apple is all about money, they want people to keep buying new devices. Again it's sad but bottom line, if you want any new apps from the App Store, it's time to get a new device that can run the latest version of ios.
Usually the app store will tell you. At this point since iOS 3 is so out of date (I think it's like 3 or 4 years old?) nobody bothers to make apps compatible with it and require iOS 4 at least. Even iOS 4 is a bit outdated. You can bet newer apps/games won't be compatible (but you never know… ). Most of them won't be. It's probably time for an upgrade if that's an option.
- Why do some apps work only on the iphone but not on the ipod touch? I'm not talking about those phone and message apps, I'm talking about some games like pirates in love and my forged wedding. (I like otome games)
- What are some messaging apps that are compatible with //both// iOS and Windows? My long distance friend and I would like to converse daily. We message on Skype, but it's very glitchy. She has a Windows tablet, and I have an iPhone. I also have an ANDROID tablet if you can think of messaging apps that are compatible with either iOS&Windows or Windows&ANDROID. Please give us some apps. I can't seem to find any.
- What are some apps that doesn't require iOS? My Iphone 4 is messed up right now, my daughter threw it in mop water when i was cleaning today, so until i can get it fixed i'm using my Ipod 2nd generation which sucks but for right now that's what i have to use, and all the apps i've wanted to download on it requires iOS, can anyone give me a list of some that don't?
- Some apps won't work with my data? I have an iPhone 4s and when IIm out of Wi-Fi range and turn on my data some of the apps I did not have on at first to save data usage, do not connect when I turn them on. For example, when I try to use my Bank of America app, the app is on with my data but it still says "network unavailable, search for Wi-Fi or try again later." This does it with some other apps. This happened to me with my iPhone 5s but I do not remember what I did to fix it. Someone know what's wrong?
