What are the risks of buying an iPhone 7 with a broken screen?

Someone on snapchat I don't know, his friend is selling an iPhone 7 with a broken screen (picture below) for what are the risks of buying it? He claims it'll work when the screen is fixed What if it doesn't work? Why doesn't he fix it and sell it then? Could it have malware or other problems? Should I buy it?

He probably doesn't have the cash to invest in repairing it. Hence, why he's selling. Would advise to see if he has had it professionally analyzed to know that replacing screen will make it work again. If not, see if he'll let you get it analyzed by a professional dealer, one who also knows about repairs, not just a retailer. Make decision based on results.

Malware is not an issue. You simply do a reset and it will revert the phone to the original factory installed software. Any malware would be wiped.

He may not have fixed the phone because he did not have the cash to get it fixed. Or if he is going to spend money he would rather spend it on a new phone instead of fixing an old one.

You have no guarantee that the phone will work in a private sale like this. About all you can do is ask him to be in writing that the only thing wrong with the phone is the screen. If you find anything else, you ask for a refund. If he refused you file a law suite for the money based on the written guarantee.

Usually evern with a broken screen you can still bring the phone up. If you can boot up the phone, oods are that it is useable. If you can't boot it with the broken screen, do not buy it

The screen is smashed. The fall may have caused other damage. You are being asked to pay $150 for ahone that may never work properly. The cost of the phone and getting it fixed - if that is possibly - is not going to be significantly less than a new 7!

You have nothing invested in this phone why would you waste that much money on it!

  • Will there be risks and messups if I update my IPhone 4 to 6.1.3? I have an IPhone 4 and I'm super scared to update it because I'm scared something is going to screw up on my phone. My sister's phone became slow when she updated it and my parents phone's contacts switched. My worst concern is my pictures being deleted or messed up. Does anyone know if my phone will mess up at all if i update? (i got my phone in October and haven't ever update if that's important.)
