What do I do with the purple splotch on my iPhone camera?

It's pretty tiny compared to others that I've seen online, but I still would like it gone. I don't think it's on the camera lens itself, and it only shows up when taking pictures or recording videos. My one year warranty is already up, and I've read that people who went to the Apple store got responses from employees that expressed they didn't know what the purple splotches were.

So does anyone who how to fix it or anything that I can do?

In the Google search there's a letter from Apple that recommends angling the camera away from a bright light source.
