What do you do if your lock button on the iPhone for stops working?

My iPhone 4 lock button stopped working and i don't want to take it to the store. Some people i know said theirs did this and after a while it started to work again. I need help.

Did you try turnin it off then back on again? That helped me

This happened to me and it had water in it, ether hope for the best by putting it in a boll of rice or pay £180 on a new one in the store
