What do you think of this argument?

"Under socialism you have poor, skinny people, with nothing.

Under capitalism you have poor, fat people with iPhones, and nobody starving to death."

How do I debunk this argument?

Give a man an IPhone, he can fish for jobs!

It's true. Even when you're homeless in a capitalist country, you can still panhandle for enough change to go into a McDonald's to buy a meal, and there's charities and such. Under a socialist country you have none of that, because food is scarce since there's no supply and demand to provide the incentive for more food. So everyone loses under a socialist system, just look at Venezuela.

People forced to live under socialism find it odd and somewhat silly to refer to fat people in free enterprise countries as poor.

Under Socialism, Everybody works to help everybody. Everybody works for greater good, (except the lazy who can't be avoided).

Under Capitalism, A Few People own or try to own, or control everything.
Everybody else is a wage "slave".

Very simply by understanding that almost every economy in the Western world is a mixed economy. In other words a mixture of socialist and capitalist.

When a society deems say healthcare for all, as a fundamental need for it's society to function properly, it creates a social program to address that issue. Same for state owned assets and utilities.

Only ignorant fools think western societies operate any differently.

Poor fat people still starve to death due to lack of nutrients

If they're poor, how do they afford to eat, let alone have iPhones… Or eat after buying the thing.

The people of Norway (socialists ) seem to be doing OK.

You can't debunk the truth!
