What foods are high in carbs?

I'm trying to cut down on what I eat by using the MyFitness Pal app for iPhone to keep a diary of what I eat. I eat manly fruit and veg now by having fruit and low fat natural yogurt for breakfast and homemade soup for lunch. However, by mid-afternoon the diary is telling me I've almost consumed blmy daily amount of carbs or I have already! Surely there isn't many carbs in fruit and veg? Also, what other foods are high in carbs that I should avoid besides bread, potatoes and pasta?

Sugar has carbohydrates in so eating plenty of fruit will add to the carb count i'm afraid.

Rice

There's a lot of sugar in fruit - fructose. So fructose is a simple monosaccharide and monosaccharid is carb.

The foods highest in carbs are high in starch or sugar. This includes anything made with flour or sugar, grains, foods with added sugar, and starchy vegetables such as potatoes and corn. Most processed foods are high in carbohydrates. Examples of low carb foods are proteins such as meat and eggs, most vegetables, low sugar fruits (such as strawberries), soy beans, and some dairy products.

All these apps and stuff always get it wrong so don't follow them to the T. If you want to stay fit and healthy just don't eat junk foods and do exercise as often as you can. We all need carbs.our body turns curbs into energy so if you cut down on them you will feel less energetic making you feel lazy all the time but if you have to much then you body won't burn any fat because it has too much carbs to burn. The best way to keep fit and healthy if to wake up early and have breakfast with brown bread and bran flakes and at lunch east something with little bit of carbs and for dinner something meaty and do exercise whenever you can and during the day if you feel peckish then eat fruits

What's a carb?
Sugar: Found in it's raw state and most fruits (fructose)
Starchy carbohydrates: Breads, pastas, rice, potato etc.

If you must, you can replace most of your carbohydrates with lentils. Pasta sauce, add lentils, stir, boom.

Problem with most diets is too much fruit. Can't blame you though. Since primary school we're bombarded with 5 fruit and veg a day. At most, we can have 1 portion of fruit a day.

Aside from the blood sugar/insulin spike from the fructose in fruit, fructose will also decrease levels of super-oxide dismutase; an important anti-oxidant in humans. It also increases iron absorption. (Bad for men, not as bad for women(periods.

Vegetables are great for you. That is where you should get most of your fiber and nutrients. Vegetables are VERY low in calories (bar potatoes) and can be eaten with no need to feel guilty.

Example meal:
Bacon (fat is not bad)
Beans
Eggs
Grilled tomato
Mushrooms
Well look at that… An English fry-up

  • Why is my iPhone storage space used so high? I have a 16GB iPhone 4s. I have no songs or videos on it. I have about 32 apps and 500 pictures. My storage space used is at 13.2 GB. Why is that so high? That is almost all of my available data? How can I bring this down? I have a friend with the same phone, same number of pictures and about the same number of apps (maybe a few less) and his storage is only about 4GB used.
  • What is the best iPhone app that lets you scan foods to see if they are good for you? I need to be able to scan a bar code while shopping to see if a food product is good to eat or not. Any ideas would be welcomed.
