Last year Apple got rid of the standalone app for Game Center and instead started offering it as an API to third party developers. It technically still exists, but it all happens in the background of third party applications. This is because at it's core, Game Center was simply a way to connect users to other users and save data via the cloud. That functionality is still there (for developers that use the API) you just don't see it happening. Apple did admit when they got rid of the standalone Game Center app that iOS users would lose some functionality such as adding friends etc etc, but opted instead to just let developers handle this.
Its still there, just not as an app anymore.
- Why won't Game Center work on my iPhone 3? Everytime I try to play a game, Game Center pops up and when I try to make a new apple id or try to press anything then it won't let me. It totally freezes. I tried to click on the game center app, but it kept loading. What can I do about this? Yes. I did jailbreak it. Plus, GameCenter IS supported on the iPhone 3. I would know since it worked for my dad.
