What happens when I reset my IPhone 4?
After resetting my iPhone what do I loose? Will I be able to download my music without having to purchase it again? Including games? Do all my photos delete? Where does my iTunes money go? How about contacts etc. I just need a list of what is lost, and how to retrieve it again if I'd like certain things back without spending money again. Does this make sense?
Before you do this, BACK UP EVERYTHING - I do mine twice, once on the Cloud, and once on my desktop. I also have always had my photos sent thru PhotoStream to my computer anyway - and then I move them to other locations(because PhotoStream only keeps them for about a month). I make sure that EVERYTHING has a safe place to go before I start removing ANYTHING. Done with that/ Ok - NOW you can reset your phone. You see that there are choices - start with the mildest and least radical choice - you can move up to the others if you need to. All your music, your apps, and your other purchased or acquired things ( except photos, as I explained) live in "iTunes" - you can get them back. The big deal is BACKING UP. On my own computer, I do NOT encrypt the back up - it is MY computer, and once, I accidentally did encrypt - and had a heck of a time getting all my stuff back - I was an idiot and did not write down the password, my fault. So as scary as this sounds, put on your Big Girl Panties, take a deep breath, and FOLLOW All DIRECTIONS before you reset anything!
Factory resetting just resets the iPhone back to it's original state, or the state that you got it in. Everything is deleted. So, before you factory reset, make sure everything is backed up on iTunes, or some apple cloud storage/ save. That way, everything is saved and after the factory reset, you can reinstall the games, re add the contacts and songs and photos. If you do not backup the phone and factory reset, well, you lose everything, pictures, contacts, etc.
So, in short, factory reseting only puts the phone back to it's " out of the box." or the original state. It will delete everything on the phone (excluding ios 8 and that stuff, again, anything that you have changed will be reset). A factory reset does not delete you iTunes account. So that's why you want to backup everything onto your iTunes account, so it's not deleted.

- Will the MAC address of my iPhone reset if I reset my iPhone to its factory settings over iTunes? I have jailbroken my device and used terminal to change my MAC address so that I could connect to school's Wi-Fi. But when I wanted to change it to its initial number, I typed in a wrong value and it just messed up my Wi-Fi, I can't connect to Wi-Fi anymore. Wonder if resetting to factory settings would help…
