What happens when you wipe an iphone?

I want to remotely wipe and erase all data on my phone using Find my Iphone. My parents took it. What happens to the actual phone after the wipe? Will the phone display a message saying it has been wiped? Or will they only see that a bunch of stuff was deleted?

Duh

everything will be deleted

if they try to look at any info, there will be nothing

thats bound to give them a clue

No it just resets everything

  • Will iTunes wipe out my iPhone data if it wants to Set as New iPhone? I've owned an iPhone 5s for over a year, it's currently running iOS 10.3.3 but I've just connected to iTunes for the first time however I only get 2 options, either "Set it up as new iPhone" or "Restore from an old backup", but that last backup is from 2015. So, if if I select "As New iPhone" will it wipe out my data?
  • When you restore your iphone, does it wipe out everything from your itunes? I understand that it will wipe out everything from your physical iphone, but i was wondering if it would wipe out everything on your itunes account to, such as music.
  • When you get a new iPhone what happens to the stuff you bought? Do the songs and apps carry over on your account, or do you sync it with your computer? I just want to be sure that the things I paid for will carry over before I get a new one.
  • When you find an iPhone and wipe it clean does that allow you to use it? I found an iPhone 7plus and I looked all over for the owners for about 20 minutes. There was a password lock so I couldn't gain access to the device. Convinced that I would never find the previous owner, I reluctantly removed the sim and wiped it clean. I check the imei and it has not been reported stolen. Since wiping it clean I now have the ability to set it up as a new phone, so I'm about to activate it using a new SIM card. What can happen?
