What is it like being home schooled?
I'm curious. I go to a public school, which I totally hate. I don't have any friends (don't really care about getting any) and I believe that mostly we learn total bull*** and just waste time. I mean "art". A waste of an hour (how is that gonna affect my future career?). Lunch. A waste of an hour. We have lunch 7th (we have 8 periods). We could have last class instead and eat lunch during last period (that would be optional, so we could go home and do something useful). Also, we can't choose our classes. I don't want to complain, but I wanna become an iPhone app developer/programmer and I honestly have no idea how French, Art, and Chemistry (which don't interest me at all by the way) can help me.
So how's it being home schooled, and how much is it? Do teachers like come to your house and teach you or what?
I was homeschooled until about college for quite a few years. Here's the lowdown:
ADVANTAGES:
- You do what you want, how you want. This includes breaks.
- You do forms of Distance Education, which can include people coming to your house on check-up visits to see how you're coming along generally. Depends on which courses you pick etc. You also get stuff regularly in the mail to work on, including tests that you send back (they sometimes have to be supervised by an outside person, sometimes a 'responsible adult' who vouches for you not cheating). So it's convenient.
- You avoid bullies/hasslers/spending time in classes
- You have a choice about who you hang out with day to day, and you have something in common with other homeschooled people.
DISADVANTAGES:
- Socially you can become isolated. There are generally more people at school than you have access to as homeschooled.
- You can find yourself taking advantage of the freedom in a bad way- procrastinating, not getting things done efficiently, taking too much 'break'. You can really fall behind if you're not careful about structuring your own time and discipline.
- If you go into the college level schooling, generally college requires some on-campus attendance. This is when, after being completely homeschooled, the unfamiliar on-campus environment, routine and demands from teachers can be a real shock.
- I don't know how much it costs, but I don't think it was any more expensive than campus education and I guess you can easily find that out.
Hope that helps
I think they mail you assignments.
Its awsome my grades have gone up i'm a much ahappier person you still talk to heaps of people trust me its so much better
Well for me, here's how it is.
I wake up usually at 8-10.
I eat breakfast, usually do one subject while I'm eating.
I watch tv, hang out with friends, play guitar, or write for a couple hours.
I do the other subject.
And I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want, sometimes I like to take naps lol I know it's weird.
I go to sleep anywhere from 12-3 in the morning.
And my dad leaves at 6 in the morning, comes back at 8pm.
My mom and grandma leave at 9, come back at around 7pm.
I sometimes make dinner if I want, I have the days to myself. I take 3 subjects: history, math, and science, and I work pit every day.
So yeah, it's pretty good. I also work for 2-7 hours each day, which is how I get money and I consider it part of school.
You are so stupid it's unbelievable. In order to become an educated individual, you need to learn whatever you can, read whatever to can, and listen to your parents and teachers. Just because your stupid as*s doesn't think it's important doesn't mean it isn't.
For lunch, do you think you just won't eat? My god I pray your idiot as*s either comes to the realization that you can't just "do" whatever you want without putting in the effort first. Pathetic ignorant child.
