What is saturation current in an inductor? - 1

No matter how much I search the internet, there seems to be no clear answer for a noob like me. I know rated current is the max current before the inductor would physically break down. But saturation current has me confused. Every answer online either has equations or is just too technical.

Is saturation current the max current the inductor can handle before it loses the ability to store current? Or is it the point where it will act as a wire in DC? For example, in my iPhone schematic, it shows current is 1.6 amps for the inductor, but doesn't specify if it's the rated current or saturation current. The problem is I don't understand saturation current very well.

If an inductor has a saturation current of 1.6 amps, can it still store the current in the magnetic field at 1 amp, and eventually allow power to flow through it in dc?

If anyone is able to answer this In a simple way that doesn't involve equations and technical stuff, please help! I wouldn't understand technical stuff since I don't even know the basics.

Thank you FOR ANY Help! Please understand I'm new and am simply trying to learn.

The saturation current is the current that will flow in an inductor that is connected to a DC supply. Allow a short time for the current to reach a steady value before measuring it.

  • Turn current Verizon iPhone to prepaid? I currently have an Verizon iPhone 4G And well my plan is getting canceled in 2 days. They told my dad that If he did that he could make my iPhone prepaid in Verizon a day or 2 before my service gets cancelled. But now when we call they told us I had to buy a new one, or get in unlock ect… Completely confusing us. Is there anyway I could keep my current Verizon iPhone but make it prepaid still in Verizon? Maybe even keep my same number?
