What is the difference between iPhone 3g and iPhone 3gs?
Is it better than iPhone 3g? How much does it cost and should I sell my iPhone 3g for the 3gs?
It is slighlty better than iphone 3g but iphone 3g will get the software update for free. The only hardware features you will lack is: a digital compass, 1mpx more on your camera, and maybe a slightly better battery and/or processor.
is it worth to sell your iphone 4 the new 1? That depends on how much you want the v slight improvements in hardware. If you just bought your iphone u mite be able to return it for a refund. Otherwise u wud hv to pay over 199 for iphone 3gs cos u hvnt kept your contract for 2yrs. Personally i wud keep the iphone i hv cos they r gna release a newer 1 a yr after and it will be the same story over again. However apple might not allow the current iphones to record video or bluetooth connect or watever cos they might give a lame excuse like it wud drain battery life 2 quickly, there might be too much lag…
if you can live without these features don't get iphone 3gs:
- slightly faster
- predicted better battery life (but iphone 3g battery life might improve as well with software updates)
- video recording (not sure if iphone 3g gets it as well looking at apples site)
- voice control (i don't know y apple wudnt allow current iphone 3g users to get this but on there site, it doesn't show iphone 3g with this)

The IPhone 3GS will be have faster speed (the "s" stands for speed), a longer battery life and a video camera. It will allow MMS visual text messages (the ability to send and receive pictures and audio clips) unlike the previous iPhone 3g. It will be lighter and has the ability to tether it to a PC to share internet connection. But the the biggest surprise is that the "older" model will sell for $99 for the 8GB.
I would sell your current 3g model now but beware. The new 3GS is only $199 for new contracts and only for those with a "few" months left on their contract. Otherwise it is $399 for the 16GB and $499 for the 32GB. If your contract is almost up then upgrading would be worth it for the newer features but if it isn't then don't even attempt! The iphone 3g is the older version, the iphone 3gs is the new version coming out this month. The "s" stands for SPEED, it is supposedly faster. The 3gs will be 199/299 depending on how many GBs you get, and the old version (3g) will now sell for 99
IPhone 3GS will have a faster processor and probably more RAM. So apps launch quicker and web pages load quicker. Actually 3x faster than web pages on the iPhone 3G running 3.0 and 8.4x faster than an iPhone 3G running 2.2.1.
3GS will have voice controls, which doesn't make sense since that's a software issue. Apple, no doubt, used this to help sell 3GSs.
3GS has a 3MP camera with auto focus and white balance or w/e and will be able to record video up to 30 frames per second.
3GS has a better battery. Using 3G will give you the same amount of battery life, because the faster speeds use up more power. But using the phone over EDGE or Wi-Fi will give you more battery life.
3GS also comes in 32GB versions.
3GS has a compass, which is a little more impressive than it sounds. The compass app is a joke, but the magnometer can be very useful, especially in the Maps app.
That's about it. The speed and the camera are enough to make me upgrade my 3G. + the 32GB is a nice bonus.

Some guy below said that the "Upgrades" will only be available with the new Iphone 3GS, but if you already have the Iphone 3G all you need to do is upgrade with the new software and all the new features will be added to your phone. At least thats what the guy at the Aple store toldme…
S stardand speed and apple call it is the Fastest iphone ever! Whatever!
iphone 3G get 2mp camera can't take video, however 3GS with 3mp camera can take can shoot VGA video, edit it, and share it.
Voice Control added in 3GS, but i believe 3G can do that with some application as well.
3GS add a 32G version cool!
and their prices are different!
Not really that much difference to make an upgrade from 3g to 3gs IMHO

It is better, but there's no point upgrading to it. The new features it offers are not worth the upgrade.
