What is the iPhone 5 contract?

Like what does it consist of? Like um, basically what is written in the contract? I hope you understand! Most understandable answers gets 10 points!

It depends

A 2-year commitment that you will stay with AT&T or whoever you choose to buy from

Contracts bind you to the service provider you chose for 2 years, meaning you will have to pay a fee if you want to leave early, break the contract, so basically if you have AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile you sign a legal agreement that you will stay with them until 2 years has passed from the day you sign the paper. So for an example If I went to a Verizon store bought a phone, plan etc… And then they would bring a paper out and ask for my signature, I would sign, and then I would have to keep Verizon until 2 years from the day I signed. So if I signed a 2 year contract agreement tomorrow September 13th, 2012 I would be stuck with Verizon until September 13th, 2014.It works the same with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. Unless you get a pre paid that has no contracts. IPhone 5 will cost $199 for a 16GB, $299 for a 32Gb, and $399 for a 64GB. I just put that in, incase you didn't know the prices of them.

Lots of small detail on what happens if you want to change or they want to change
after you agree to it

Mainly it says
- you promise to pay xx.xx for 18/24 months
- at the end, it will keep running with a 30 day notice
- the network is 'not' responsible if it breaks down
(which is not completely true, but if its out for a few hours by accident tough)
- the network (like all networks), does not guarentee it will work everywhere
(all networks have a few blackspots)

and says if you want to cancel,
there will be penalty fees - usually the rest of the contract money that you would have paid - so you might as well not cancel.

basically it is the same as the T&C's on the website (if you look for the link)

  • Will buying an iphone in contract and unlocking cause contract immediate fee? If i buy a iphone for example on att contract and unlock it, will att charge me what's left on the contract or will i just go by like nothing happened and free of contract? I haven't seen this but it makes quite a bit of sense for companies… Not sure if they do however.
  • Which is better iphone 5s plan, contract or no contract? I want to get an iphone 5s but i don't know if it's better to get a contract plan or a no contract plan. I would be having to pay every month with a contract and that's annoying. Yet with a contract i wouldn't have to pay that much for the phone would i? If i got the non contract i would get to pay the bill when i want but i would have to pay full price for the phone.
  • What's better contract or no contract? The 2 year contract is iPhone 5 for 149.99 one time plus 51 dollars a month. The no contract is iPhone 5 for 579.99 one time or down payment of 99.99 and 20 bucks a month plus 42.50 a month?
  • Should I get iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S? No contract or with contract? I don't know what exactly is so much better with the 5 compared to 4S? I'm thinking to get it with no contract because I'll be in Europe over the summer so I'll need another contract over there for a few months so that likely wouldnt work if I got a 2 year contract here in the US is the 5 much more expensive than the 4s? and does the price vary a lot if I buy with/without contract?
