What is the point in taking a selfie?
So all the time I will go on Instagram and see pictures of my friends taking selfies(iPhone pictures of them looking at the camera.)I'm not criticizing or anything, I just want to know what the point of taking a selfie is.
It is not unusual for an artist to draw self-portraits as they learn how to draw faces. Thus a photographer can learn a lot about lighting by using themselves as a model.
Yes, most of the "selfies" you see are more narcissistic than attempts to lean something about light and posing a model, but they do reduce the number of times they get asked the question, "Where can I see a photo of you?"
1. A "photo-a-day" project. Take a photo everyday for a year and see how much you change.
