What is the point of wireless charging?
My friend is telling me that his LG G3 is better than my iPhone because it has wireless charging, but I don't understand the point to it? You have to put it on a mat for it to charge, so it's not true wireless charging, and I would like to use my phone while having it plugged in, so I can't do that if its sitting on the table on the wireless mat. Why is everyone making a big deal about wireless charging? I would care more if it was true wireless charging like through the air.
Your friend is telling you that because he THINKS it is better, but, as you said, there isn't much point in it.
It is (perhaps) a "clever" thing to do from a technological point of view, but like many "clever" things it serves the advertising people much better than it does the owner.
If you have never used a wireless charging device, you really have no idea what you are missing out on. I owned the Nexus 5 and it has it built in, and honestly, it is the ONE thing i miss most about my new phone (LG G2).
its all in the convenience. Drop it down, and it charges… Pick it up and it stops, drop it again and it charges. I did this at work answering texts and making calls all day and I went home with close to 100% battery. I send a TON of text messages every day, and honestly, my charging cable is too short to keep it plugged in and use it. So I would have to unplug and re-plug all day l long. Annoying, and more wear and tare on the plug.
its really not a huge deal unless you actually use it though… Not having to fiddle with a charging port at night (in a dark room) is awesome… Just set it on the mat and its good to do.
sigh… I miss it just talking about it.

- Why are all wireless companies charging a deposit on iPhone 5s? I've tried every cell phone company and they never mention a deposit fee, until I enter all my info then submit. On the finalizing page, they all say I have to put a $400 deposit down. Does anyone know why all companies are doing that?
