What is this icon and why can't I delete it?

So I just noticed that there's a random app icon on my iphone that I can't delete (there isn't a little X that pops up). When I click on it, nothing happens. It doesn't open and I haven't downloaded any new apps lately, so my question is WHAT THE HELL IS IT?

Which app you are talking about?
If you have a brother or guy friend, please ask him, since guys are better in this!

That is the New York Times app. Here are some things to look at.
1. If you are using someone else's account, did they download it?
2. Is it a part of your wallpaper?
3. Try redownloading it and uninstalling

When i go to the app store, next to the facebook app it just says "OPEN" so i can't re-install it and the only place i can access it. Can someone tell me how to make the icon show up please?
