What is wrong with iPhone storage?

I'm only getting to use 1.923gb of storage of my 16gb I have no music at all, about 100 pictures, almost no messages, 20 emails which they all get deleted daily. I only use my iPhone for games and the occasional few other things. I added up everything in my storage to get 1.923gb including the available that was left over after I added everything else up. I don't know what is going on if iPhone just has that much stuff on it that it takes up almost all that storage. Any help at all would be nice.
