What kind of wireless headphones to use for mowing so I can listen to music or podcast while I mow?

Is it possible to leave iPhone in my house while mowing in a large urban lawn I live in a city

I've always used these 3m Worktunes type things.

you need something built like that for stuff like mowing a lawn, because your head will probably sweat like a pig all over them and they're made to take that

apparently they make them with like bluetooth connectivity these days, but I expect you'd have to have your iphone right there with you for that

if you want to leave it in the house, well, those same kinds of of headphones generally have fm receivers. I expect you could find a small fm transmitter device you could plug that iphone into so you could pick up the signal with the headphones, but I'm not sure what you'd have to pay for whatever range you'd need outside in that yard.

Rely on reputable manufacturers such as Sennheiser, Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, or use ear muffs.

No. Your phone will not have the broadcast range to leave indoors. You know, the whole point of such small devices such as cellular smartphones, is that they are PORTABLE, right? Any earphone, whether corded or cordless that attaches to your phone will work. Whether you phones loudness control is good enough, loud enough to suit you is moot. Best isolation would be from over the ear cup type earphones for obvious reasons. Alternately, pick up an old Walkman, or equivalent portable player.

To protect your hearing and seal out the lawnmower sounds, while still hearing the mus/podcastsc you want, go to a garden supply store online like Gempler's. They will have big over-the-ear headphones, and you can even see a little antenna coming up on the side for Am and FM. As far as things YOU want to control for content, then get headphones that also handle Bluetooth, and pair them with your phone or similar device. Listen to radio things thru the air - use the Bluetooth only for things your have DOWNLOADED to your phone, or yo will chew thru data like a puppy through slippers.

I have listened to music, audiobooks, and now podcasts in bed every single night of my life since the Sixties. First, I slept in the room next to my jet-plane-volume snoring Dad (Mom slept done the hall - yeah, I was an only child… ). They I married a fella who falls asleep to sports radio - but can't stand earpods, etc. In bed. So *I* wear the in-ear buds - and do not hear his baseball replays, and get to hear interesting things. Oddly - I can't listen to music to fall asleep - I'm a career professional musicians, and the music draws me in and keeps me awake. If I try to NOT use anything audio - then the music I'm practicing and rehearsing plays in my head. Podcasts are perfect - and when i Really need to sleep - Canadian news radio - nothing duller on the planet.
