What's the best camera (reasonable price) to shoot my short films?

1.) I do have an iPHONE 5C; but weary of the battery and storage. I prefer to use it for sound/dialogue pick up--have done it with past films and comes out pretty good. I also can't afford a MAC so as for editing on iMOVIE.

2.) Canon T3i--a friend said with a swivel screen.

Added (1). Also could you paste any links to a specific camera and for audio and/or software that you recommend to use.

Most amateur videos do use a dual recording setup. Search YouTube for "Digital Audio Recording on a Budget".

A DSLR is horrible for video. They shoe-horned in video features so existing photographers will be comfortable and can re-use their lens's, but it's not the right tool for the job.

You mention a "swivel screen" but WHY? This is only useful for vlogging. If you are shooting a film - you have a camera man behind the camera.

Go to YouTube. Search for FrameForest and other videos on… Video recording.

I would go with a Zoom or Tascam H1, lavilear microphones or Rhode GoPro shotgun microphones, and a good camcorder.

Do a google search for "best video editing software" to find packages. But I hope you have an i7 desktop that is up to the task of video editing. This is very CPU intensive.

Also - when you step up to more than a cell-phone, lighting becomes important. This video will help:
