What's wrong with my iMessage/emojis?

I'm chatting with my friend on iMessage. We both have the iPhone 4S with the emoji app, but I can't see her emojis. It just reads "?=?" The text bubbles are also green instead of blue. What can I fix?

I would check if either of you have an update available for the app.

Turn on your iMessages.
Settings
Messages
iMessage "on"
And if that doesn't work
Check to see if your emoji keyboard is turned on.
Go to settings
Click general
Scroll down to keyboard
Then look and see if it says english and emoji under.
If not click "add new keyboard" and scroll down to find emoji and click it and then try to see if it works.

It is actually your phone telling you to stop using emojis and use words to express yourself

And iMessage doesn't always work with all iPhone users its set as text message instead of iMessage" and they get my Emojis even when I use text message but I don't get their.   • Something is wrong with imessage? Ok so I have an iPhone and I try texting someone with an iPhone… And then it sends as text message and it does that to everyone else that has an iPhone! And then I went to my settings and realized that imessage wasn't on so I try to switch it over but it doesn't go over all the way and if it does it doesn't stay! Please help! What should I do? It's happened to me before!
  • My Iphone 4s Headjack Port has or something wrong with it what wrong? My IPhone head jack has something in it or something wrong, because it was working fine and then the next day i plug my beats it wouldn't fully go in I had to force it and hold it down then if I let go it go out so i use my apple headphone same thing I look inside try to take it out or see it nothing happen I don't know what in it but I put the light or shine don't see nothing i use the paper clip to see if I could take it nothing there Please Help
  • Is there something wrong with my phone or is there something wrong with my mom's phone? Ok so when I attempt to call my mom, it doesn't ring it just goes straight to voicemail but doesn't show on my mom's phone that she had a missed called. My messages won't go through either, but her calls and messages come through to me. We both have iPhones and they are both on. I can text everyone else, call everyone else but her.
