What's wrong with this kid in my orientation group?

So, college orientation was today, and I, along with someone else, were in charge of a group of 15 new students to help acclimate them to the college.

There was one person in the group that showed up 30 minutes early, read a book on his iPhone, and pretty much did this during every group activity. When people talked to him, he would respond back. But he wouldn't really open up to me.

A few other orientation group leaders were able to speak with him, and they said he was very open and engaging, which he wasn't with me. One said it was hard to get him to shut up about things that interested him.

I guess my question is less "what's wrong with him?" and more "how do I get him to communicate with me and everyone else?" I'm guessing he's introverted? How do I get an introvert out of their shell? I want to make sure he leaves this week with lots of friends.

You don't. Leave him alone. If he's a true introvert you trying to force him to talk to you and others will hurt him more than help him.

  • My iphone isn't changing orientation? It was working earlier today but it isn't working anymore. The portrait orientation is unlocked so it shouldn't be doing this. Any suggestions to fix this. I do not want to reset my phone.
  • My iPhone 5s won't rotate, it has ios 8.01, and the portrait orientation is not turned on? I want to play a racing game and I need to be able to tilt the phone in order to steer the car, but that won't work either. Like i said i checked the button that locks the landscape mode, but it is not turned on. I have reset the phone numerous times and it still is not working, any help would be appreciated
  • Mobile web site development - images and device orientation? I have developed a mobile site with a 320px wide image on the page. When viewed on the iPhone in portrait orientation, all is. But when you view in landscape mode, it obviously doesn't fit the page. How to fix so that the image will fit all devices, regardless of orientation?
  • Looking for a photo frame that displays iPhone photos in their original orientation? I have a problem with my digital photo frame. (The company is pandigital) I just downloaded photos from my iPhone to the frame, and they re being displayed incorrectly. Photos that were taken as portrait appear as landscape. (I have to tilt my head sideways to look at the picture) Does anyone know of a solution to this problem, or of a digital photo frame that will display pictures in the orientation they were taken (even if that means black bars)
