What should I do with my life? - 2

I'm 30 years old, both parents have passed away and no no brothers or sisters… Almost zero connections with my family. I've spent the past 3.5 years traveling around the world. Friends always say my life is amazing and others tell me I need to settle down to stop being "Peter pan". I feel like over my years of traveling I have accomplished a lot, became a scuba instructor, taught English in Asia, surfed the biggest waves in Indonesia. But now I'm stuck, financially I'm fine… Now in South América, in the country of my girlfriend, I feel like I have no purpose being here, she is financially unable to travel but there's no work for her here. I don't want to leave her but I also don't want to get stuck spending all my life savings to wait for her to get a job and live somewhere I dislike. Also I somewhat feel that since I have been with her my life direction has spun out of control, especially since we came to her country. Given this, I'm not an easy person to be with, tons of emotional baggage but she is ok with it… Our work ethic is very different but we share similar life goals. I'm sick though of hearing about she could do but doesn't do anything, silly business plans, Opportunities with other businesses that are all just a pipe dream. I'm just stuck… I don't wanna throw away a relationship but I also don't want to loose myself and the productivity I have had over the past years. I'm just lost in life… I'm sick of playing iphone games, endlessly looking at facebook for an answer while i get even more lost seeing all my friends having kids and getting married.returning to the states is an option, i'm no fugitive but do need to face the punishment of a DUI, a lawyer handled it but i've been abroad the whole time so haven't been able to do anything about it. Not to mention after years abroad the idea of living back in America is frightening. Just feelig so lost! Any advise from anyone would be greatly appreciated. It sounds like you appreciate there are compromises to be made if a relationship is to survive, however have you spoken with your girlfriend about your concerns about her working? Does she know you don't like living there? Have you two discussed what you both want to do with your lives individually and as a couple? If there's no work for her there, is her long term plan to stay unemployed? Or is she willing to move with you somewhere else? It sounds like you need to ask yourself and her some difficult questions. Hopefully those answers will help give you some direction.
