What shows what you actually look like?
I look good in the mirror but on camera I'm hideous. I use my iPhone 5s' camera and I look bad front and back. My drivers license photo looks more like what I look like in the mirror but if course I had this really crazy smile cause I had just turned 16 xD but I don't get it why can't I take a good picture? Or do the mirrors just make you look better than you are?
It would help us if you would upload the picture from your drivers license (just the picture, not your personal info) and the pictures you take of yourself so we can compare and see where the issue might be. Just put a piece of paper over your drivers license to hide your personal info and snap a photo with your phone.
Maybe this will help?

How to Take a Great Selfie
http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/tip/3743/take-great-selfie/
When you look at yourself in the mirror and look good, are you usually looking at just one mirror? If so, try to get a sense of what other colors surround your face when you look in the mirror, perhaps the wall color. Also, what kind of lighting? Dim, from the side, natural light? Do you usually look at yourself at an angle, like tilt your head or something? (Models know what their good angles are. I think Giselle Bundchen holds her face at a quarter profile much of the time). Do you feel comfortable and are you smiling naturally? (When people are uncomfortable they may strain their jaw outward or tuck it in).
When you look at a mirror, it's nice to appreciate yourself for your own eyes. But we don't take the same attitude to photos and have anxiety about how we look to other's eyes. I guess you might try to look at a camera lens the same way that you look at a mirror lens as if looking at yourself, and see if that changes anything.
Your phone camera has a wide angle lens. If you use it too close, like at arms, length you will get wide angle distortion.
Wide angle lenses are no good for taking portraits of people - it distorts their features. Photographers do not use phones to take people's photos. The solution is to use a proper camera, even a cheap point and shoot will do. Most of these have a zoom lens, which means you can zoom in to frame the shot - phones on the other hand only have digital zoom, which is awful.
Here's an example of what wide angle lenses do to faces.
- Wi-Fi shows up on iPhone as being locked but doesn't actually have a password? My Wi-Fi shows up as being locked, requiring a password to use. My Wi-Fi has never been set up with a password, and does not appear like this on any other device (including a computer, and 2 laptops). But on my iPhone 5c, running iOS 8.1 and jailbroken with Cydia using Pangu. (It was like this before being jailbroken, too.) Only real answers please! Thank you!
- When you send an iMessage from an iPod to an iPhone, what does it look like? I recently just bought the new iPod touch, 5th generation. I set up iMessage. If I send a message to one of my friends using iMessage to their iPhone, how does it appear on their screen? Like does it say it's from my email address? Or is it already under my contact #? (I don't have an iPhone) haha thanks for helping out!
- What is the iPhone app that makes you look like you re levatating? Like you take a picture and then it makes it look like your body is levatating so many people are using it on instagram!
- What does the iphone 4 camera (with flash) make you look like? Ok so basically I have had the iphone 4s for a while but I'm giving it to my friend and getting the iphone 4 (downgrade, I know!) but I'm just wondering what the camera makes you look like? Does it make you look really yellow and your eyes look white? Or is the flash one of them ones that make your skin look grey? Or is it true to colour? Do you think the camera is good?
