Welcome to the Apple world mate! The only thing I hate about Apple products are their charger wire, and I'm assuming you're talking about the wire too. Just make sure you don't always bend the wire, but other than day, can't help you mate. Try going back to the store and seek replacement if you have a warranty.

Apple claims they have proprietary changing cables because they can guarantee a generic cable will provide a consistent current which can shorten the life of their devices.
For this quality charging experience, you are expected to pay $39.99, vs the $1.00 you pay for a microusb cable at dollar tree.

What a crock of ****. How can a cable that the strands of wire inside it start breaking the day you get it? Once enough strands have broke, your phone will quit charging. So, you twist and turn the wire until it starts working. This only causes further wear on the cable, and can't be good for the phone.

I have heard apple is pretty generous about swapping out bad ones if you take it into to an Apple store. Apple stores are conveniently located with 550 miles of your home in the lower 48 states.

There's hope though. The iPhone 8 is ditching the lightning cable in favor of the industry standard usb c type cable, but knowing apple, we will need a 3phase 30amp 220v outlet to charge it.

I have no idea, I have had two for roughly 5 years and they both still work perfectly.

It would be on 100% in the morning and at about 11 would be down to 40%. It would also only take 2-3 hours to fully charge and I think that's why it's losing power so quickly.
