What would happen if I went back in time to 1800 and gave someone an iPhone?
They'd be like "wow"
Not much. They'd have a shiny box with a light on it, with no access to external data sources or the ability to recharge it - its essentially just a short term novelty item, like many other toys and curios of the time.
Who would he talk to?
There would nobody to call, no telephone system, no cell towers, no electricity to charge the phone, no Wi-Fi, no way to download apps, no way to pay for apps, no way to send email or text messages.
Who could they call?
They would not know how to use it. They would think it is there to hurt them so they would throw it on the floor and step on it a bazillion times.
Same as if someone came HERE from then, and handed you an astrolabe, or an armillary. Do you have any idea how to use one - or what one IS?
Now if you went back a little further in time, things might be more interesting. Say the late 1600's in Massachusetts. Pull it out to show them in a place like Salem and you'd be tried as a witch/warlock for having that magical device that must be from the devil.
They'd be like "dude what are you wearing, and why is your hair so short and why do you have a funny accent". Then probably hang you for having a fire-squarish object.
Nothing? The majority of the applications would have no purpose, and people wouldn't understand it at all.
There'd be 0 phone functionality or anything. No internet. So all you could possibly show off is games or videos that you already had, which people would just be confused with.

Okay i have an iphone & my dad pays my bill for my phone & i went over my data 3 times & he said tht thts crazy & hes going to call to see how i went over it. So would the people at at&t jus say the data was used on safari or would they tell my dad everything i was on? Like the websites?
