The BlackBerry Curve is probably less expensive than the iPhone. Also, the Curve has a physical keyboard, making it easier for texting/email. Also, the current BlackBerry OS has multitasking and Flash, among other things.

The iPhone is touchscreen only so that may make it harder for texting/email, but most people I know don't complain about the lack of a physical keyboard. However, there are hundreds of thousands of Apps for the iPhone. Also, the new iPhone OS is set to have multitasking on its OS.

The big selling point of the BlackBerry is the keyboard. But frankly, the keyboard makes it good for texting/email. A lot of people these days use their phones for much more than just that. A lot of people use their smartphones for content consumption, i.e. Surfing the Internet. A BlackBerry is not as conducive to that as an iPhone. Don't let the keyboard be the only deciding factor for you.

Beyond the primary use: phone calls and texting. It all depends on you with the intangibles. The iPhone is geared more towards multimedia with iTunes and Apps. The Blackberry Curve has always been geared towards the business savy. Do you prefer touchscreen over a keypad? The iPhone screen is larger than the Curve. Both are 3G, e-mail integrated, with GPS. In terms of service, Verizon is superior to AT&T. However, RIM, the manufacturer of Blackberry has been prone to blackouts. The Curve is going to be one of Blackberry's first phones to handle voice and data at the same time, which the iPhone has always done. Apple is coming out with a new iPhone OS in the summer that will take greater use of the 3GS' capabilities. I would go to both stores and get a hands-on feel for both phones.
