What's the point of silicone cases?

Sure it may pritect it from scratches, but if the iphone or other phone falls its screen is crapped on. Why do people get silicone cases? Why not hard plastic ones?

It can cushion some of a drop

the BEST phone cases is a combination hard plastic AND silicone, it combines the impact absorption of the silicone with the distribution of the force all along the body

examples of these would be Otterbox cases.

I have a silicone case, and I LOVE it, especially the fact that it WRAPS around the phone and creates a bumper on the front.

I've dropped my phone TONS of times and it protects it everytime no matter where or how I drop it.

Think of it like bouncing a ball, if it was made of silicon, it'd bounce and there'd be no damage.

Hard plastic cases always tend to pop off, crack, or shatter, they create NO protect on the front because they just 'snap' on and cover the back. I watched my sister drop her phone with one of those cases and cause tons of damage to her phone because the thing would pop off after it struck the ground and cause the phone to flip over UNprotected and then shatter the phone. Not good at all.
Silicon will always beat hard cases: p
