Where to find AT&T customer to unlock iPhone?

AT&T provides free unlock service for iPhones. You just have to be a customer. My friend has an iPhone that needs to be unlocked but we couldn't find a customer who could fill out the one page unlock request form online. We were even willing to pay and still looking. Is there any simpler way to do this?

All the requirements to get any phone (iPhone or otherwise) unlocked with AT&T is located at http://www.att.com/...iceunlock/

Stuff NOT noted on that page are…

* Any phone on the NEXT program must have the remaining balance paid off (which is classified as "unpaid balance") first. -- You'll have to call Customer Service to take care of this (have a credit / debit card OR a bank account handy, as you'll be asked for one, if it's not on file). -- This is part of the "The AT&T Mobile Device has been paid for in full." segment, but it bears noting.

* That phone MUST be used on the account at one time -- Anti-fraud measure. If it hasn't been on the account, it'll get denied automatically & will need to provide proof of purchase to get it unlocked.

When it comes to contacting Customer Service for assistance, expect them to refer to you the website if you haven't done that already (they have to follow policy). Then if everything checks out with your request & it has been declined by the online process, the best they can do is file a case to get it unlocked, which take some time to get processed. Don't bother with requesting a supervisor to expedite it, they have no way to do so.

Please be aware that the unlock process is available to FORMER AT&T customers as well, but the unlock limit is stricter on them (5 unlocks TOTAL, instead of per 12-month period) & they will need to remember their old account information. Therefore, if your friend was with AT&T, they can still file the request online.

Beyond that, your friend is pretty much stuck.
