I've personally only used apple products, but I've heard the the Nokia lumia okay but not the best( from what I've heard.)i have an iPhone 4S and I think it's amazing, I have what's app and it's really fast never freezes. I love my iphone camera it focus' really good and takes amazing pictures. Mail is super fast updates every minute. Personally I think you should get the iphone 5 because there so good but obviously it's your choice!
I would say Lumia 1020!

I would prefer iPhone, otherwise you want a nice camera phone.
The only thing that is good about Lumia 1020 is camera and windows OS is still miles away from iOS or Android. It doesn't even have official Google maps app yet.
iPhone 5 is great but the only problem I see is that the videos look terrible on the screen because the screen ratio is 16:9 all the videos look they are stretched.
Otherwise it is good phone.
LUMIA 1020 is the one to go for if camera is what it matters to you.
the iphone has lot of apps but thats it its no better than lumia 1020 in anyother department.
1020 also has whatsapp so that is not a problem.
also the nokia maps, drive etc is far better than any google maps service.
