IPhone 5 on iOS 6
I don't like the "growing" that all models of cell phones are doing. My old 3 GS had a smaller screen, but was much more rugged than the newer (and much larger) iPhones. (My wife's 4 S can handle much more than my 3 and isn't very much larger, so that might also be viable. Hers can also use up to iOS 9.3.5 versus my 3 being limited to iOS 6.1.6, which restricts my use of newer apps.) Among the newer iPhones, I'd go with the SE as it has the internals of the 6 in the smaller case of the 5, although even the 5 was a giant compared to the 4.
