White screen black apple on iphone 4s?

I tried to update the software on my iPhone 4s and now it just keeps turning off and on and it gets stuck on a white screen with a black apple on it when it finally turns back on. Any ideas of what I can do? I can't restore it due to some settings on my actual phone that I obviously can't get into, any other ideas?

Start the iPhone in DFU mode (plug into computer first) and restore.

This will erase all your data unless you have backed up your iPhone with iTunes.

  • White iPhone 4s has better screen than black 4s? My mom has a black 4s and i have a white one. They were bought from the exact same store on the exact same day. The black one has more of a washed out screen and not a true black its like a washed out black. The white one is much better… When starting up it is pure black unlike the black one. I had this exact same case with a black and white ipod touch. Why is this?
  • My iPhone has a black screen with the white apple logo and won't turn on? It goes from a completely black screen to a screen with the apple logo and then back to a completely black screen in about 10 seconds.
