Who else thinks windows might die soon?

It's 2014 now, and powerful desktop computers and laptops are dying, the world is moving more towards smartphones and tablets, and moving away with powerful computers.

While windows computers and laptops are the only things going for Microsoft, (and are getting worse with windows 8 I hear) Let's face it, nobody like windows phones right now. But So many people have iPhones and iPads! And hardly anyone has iMacs and Mac computers in general.

So while windows are dominating the PC market, iPhones are dominating the mobile market. And when home computers die off, what will become of windows? Nobody wants to buy those sucky windows phones.

Microsoft OS became critically ill with Windows ME. They revived with XP, and nearly died with Vista, which was FAR worse than ME. They stumbled along on 7 before getting it right, just left hospital and abandoned it for 8, which was dead on arrival, but some idiot resuscitated it. But it appears to be a terminal illness as 8.1 is worse. They have actually turned Windows into a phone OS which can't make calls.

This will not happen for many years to come. It is a false belief that mobile has taken over. Yes mobile is more popular than it has ever been, but it will NEVER be the equivalent of a pc. If you upgrade the power in a tiny smartphone, a bigger computer will just get more powerful with each mobile upgrade. They will never be equal. It's physically impossible. Apple promised 64 bit processing, they barely accomplished it by a technicality. A cheap $500 custom pc can outperform a smartphone in processing and graphics any day, it will always be that way. Just in the future smartphones may have the equivalent of a gtx 770 (highly doubtful but it's an example for fun), by that time a desktop will be up to dozens of times faster and stronger. Again, pure physics.

Look, windows have still a long way to die because they just making products over and over and almost every year they make a new windows os. The thing is that they have fans from all over the world and some people just buy every thing that Microsoft produces. So, in the end there's still a long way for Microsoft to retire from those things. That was my opinion, I hope it helped.

While sales of desktops have taken quite a hit due to the popularity of mobile computing, the decline has leveled off. Some forecasts predict that sales may recover this year and resume their historical upward trend.

Even though consumers are switching to smartphones and tablets in drove, desktops are still important in the business world. Local storage needs for things like photos and videos and the lack of truly high speed cloud storage mean that many households will still have a need for at least one desktop. Desktops and, as a consequence, Windows are unlikely to disappear any time soon.

Actually alot of people have Macs. Its the fastest growing desktop computer right now.

Microsoft is already dead in mobile, but they do own most of the desktop world and office and xbox are huge products of theirs also.

  • Will my iPhone die soon/ completely give out? I've had the same iPhone 4 since 2011, will the battery give out soon or will the backlight/ touch sensor die first?
  • Who else thinks this is insane My little sister Blair turns 7 on July 4th. SEVEN. And my parents are seriously considering giving in and giving her an iPhone. I have a 5, but I'm gonna be 16. Anyway, they'd give her either a 4/s or a 5 with Internet capabilities locked (for now) she could use Instagram and whatever but no safari. That aside, I still think that's insanity.
  • What stores might have the iPhone 5 in stock? What stores (AT&T, BestBuy, etc.) do you think have the best chance of having the iPhone 5 in stock. When will Apple Stores have regular availability?
  • I'm so excited! Might get an iPhone? Tips on waiting? I have this really bad old flip phone and I have been asking my mom for a new phone for a while. Now she is saying that when she upgrades to a new phone I might be able to do the at&t "share an upgrade" thing and get an iPhone 5C! This is my first smartphone (I'm 15) and I'm so excited! I will have to wait until my mom picks a new phone though and it might take over a month. I'm very grateful and happy but I can't wait I'm so excited!
