Why are my 300 photos taking up 5 gb of storage on my iphone?

I have 300 photos and 60 short videos less than a minute and it is requiring 5 gb of storage on icloud. I have a 16gb iphone 5 with 3 gb left of storage. I have 28 apps and 80 songs. I also erase my text messages and still on have a little bit of storage left.

Stop taking so many selfies

Photos and especially videos always take up a lot of storage on my old iPhone (I recently got a samsung) I had 16gb on it. I had almost 1000 photos, like one video and a few apps. The pictures took up 75% of my storage. What I would do if I were you would just upload the photos and videos onto your lap top or computer then delete them on your phone. Hope it helped.

You must have taken all of the pictures and videos on the best megapixel setting for your phone. The more megapixels you take your pictures in the more memory it takes to store the pictures.

I would go through your pictures and save the most important ones. Then set your camera to take pictures and videos at a lower megapixel setting for all future pics/videos. This will save you a lot of memory and you will still have a picture to remember that moment.
