Why can i activate my iphone 3gs?

I was in the middle of updating my iphone 3gs on itunes and it stopped, it says that i can't activate it beacuse i have no sim card installed but i do. Now it's stuck on the activation pocess. How do I sort it out?

First step - try taking the SIM card out and then putting it back in. That often works, as it renews the recognition of the card.

If that doesn't work - take it into an Apple shop, or spend a few hours trying to get through to their heldesk on the phone.

I had that happen to me once. What you do is: When a pop-up pops up on your phone saying that your mobile doesn't have a sim-card installed, enter your code and you'll be fine. A way to make that pop-up pop up is to double tap that text you see on the upper left corner of your screen or reconnect the sim-card.
