Why can I log into my Wi-Fi on my laptop but not my IPhone?
It asks me if i want to join the network but when I type the password it says "incorrect password".
I know the password is correct.
I have restarted both my phone and the base many times.
I have tried to update it, it says "unable to check for update.
I have an Iphone 5s
What do I do?
Go into Wi-Fi, in "Settings" on the iPhone. Select your home network, tap the information icon (letter "i", in a circle) then hit "Forget This Network".
Re-connect, entering the password.
Your router may be too new for one or both of two reasons 1) newer routers use 2.4/5ghz transmissions and your device can't match that requirement 2) the new router employs more security algorithm options eg 64 bit aes 128 bit aes 256 bit aes encryption options and it has defaulted to the max(best possible) and your old device doesn't support that. *** the cure… Most new routers also employ GUEST(dual - separate Wi-Fi signals) enable old slow GUEST and login to that instead. This is what guest is for. *** note some Wi-Fi drivers eg those for laptops can improve their understanding of newer encryptions with updates, so even laptops are not immune to the issue of new routers making use of better encryption, but phones just aint updated like pc's. **** you could also force advanced settings of your device to NOT use 5ghz at all and negotiation should then fall back to lower 2.4, but then if you move about you may want to use 5ghz at a place where it does work.
Show password as you are typing make sure the phone is not sending an incorrect letter or number. Change the Wi-Fi password
