Why can't I connect to my Wi-Fi? - 2

Why can I not get my Mac Book Pro to connect to my Wi-Fi anymore? My iPad and iPhone can still connect without any issues but when I try connecting my laptop I get the exclamation mark on top of the Wi-Fi symbol. This has been happening for a few days now. Running diagnostics only tells me to restart the hub which I've done about 10 times, to no effect.

Without details of your network settings nobody can tell you why it is not connecting. Open

System Preferences > Network

You should have…

Wi-Fi at the top of the list on the left.

Your Network Name selected in the drop down menu

Click the Advanced button - may need to click the lock icon and enter your password.

Under the Wi-Fi tab you should have your network name at the top of the list and the correct Security type

Under the TCP/IP tab you should have Using DHCP in the drop down menu
Clicking the Renew DHCP Lease will not do any harm
You should see your IP address, Subnet mask and router address listed

Under the Hardware tab you should see your MAC address listed and the Configure drop down menu should be set to Automatically.

Click OK and then Apply.

Try restarting.

Failing that it could be a hardware failure and your Wi-Fi card is not working.

Check from the Apple menu (top left corner)…

About this Mac > System Report > Hardware > Network >Wi-Fi

Should list details of your Card type and network
