Why can't I free up space on my iphone 5c?
So I have an 8GB iPhone 5c with iOS 9.2.1 and I should have 5GB of space to use on it. My iPhone says that all 5GB of space has been used. However, after adding up all of the space the apps I have now are using, I only come up with 1.236823GB (1,236.8230MB). I've tried deleting apps and photos, turning on Optimize iPhone Storage in settings, and moving photos to iCloud, but it still says all 5GB of data has been used. Is there any way I can fix this and free up space on my iPhone?
Did you clear your web history? Try deleting old text messages. Reboot your phone? You can go to settings > general > storage and icloud usage, try seeing what is really using your storage.
Storage space is not only used by Apps, music or any other file a user adds.
Wow. With only 8GB and iOS 9 I'm surprised the phone even works at all. With iOS 9 even 16GB is almost too little memory.
You should clean off old notifications, text messages and emails, especially those with photos or videos. Then you can try restarting your phone to retrieve some of the storage -- hold down the Power button and Home button at the same time for about 6 seconds until the screen goes black.
You can delete the iCloud backup from your iPhone to release some iCloud storage space.

Having over 1, 000 pics on my iphone I had very little space left so after backing up all pics I went through and deleted over 500 pics but kept the videos. But when I checked to see how much storage I now had the amount didn't change, as if I didn't delete anything! Anyone know what to do?!
