Why can't i connect to internet?

I had to reset my pc to factory settings recently and now i can't connect to internet. I had a cd which enabled me to get the net in the past but i lost this and now i have no clue how to get it on. I have no idea about drivers etc so any help in simple terms would be appreciated. I have wireless virgin broadband and my laptop is working and iphones etc so it is my pc that i don't know how to set up

If your router/modem comes with a LAN cable, use that to connect it to your computer LAN port instead of using USB cable. No driver installation needed. Mine works flawless that way. When I try to use USB, it just won't detect, no matter what I do. I use Windows 7.

Another way is to google the model number to find the drivers in your CD.

Easiest way is to use a cable to start with, your Virgin Modem must have some cable sockets at the back with appropriate cables with it use this cable. Just plug it in and it'll sort itself out

This is how to identify your ethernet card and get the right driver for it.

When i'm out and about I'm usually updating my twitter and Facebook account. But, when I'm put my phone down, 3G still says I'm using it and charging me. So do I have to turn it off when i'm finished? Or is there a much easier way?
  • Why can't my desktop connect to our Wi-Fi at home but does connect to moble hotspot? Suddenly my desktop won't connect to our Wi-Fi. All other devices such as laptops, phones and tablets connects just fine. I tried connecting it to my iphone's hotspot and it works. I tried to unistall and reinstall the wireless adapter but still won't work. I also tried to reboot the router and even tried to change the channel but still failed to make it work. Do you have any other way to make it work? I have windows 7 on my desktop.
