Why can't i connect to the internet? - 2
I'm connected to my network but i can't connect to the internet. Its not the router, i've tried unplugging and plugging back in the wires and i've tried disconnecting and reconnecting and no good. I know its no the router cuz i'm on the internet on my iphone using the same network. The troubleshoot for the internet connection suggested to unlock firewall and allow all network trafic between… Couldnt read the rest of it. But there's something wrong cuz when i go to my firewall under my system and security in the control panel and i click on "use recommended settings" i'm getting error code 0x80070422. What do i do, and i'm not comp saavy so if you can help me dumb it down lol, i really really would appreciate it

Try to find your cable connections and then your NIC ( network interface card ) and your IP plus DNS.

Chances are it is an error on your ISP's end. If you can access the internet using your IPhone, you are probably not using your LAN, but 3G or 4G cell phone network. If Windows states that you need to check your firewall, it means that the information is getting from your pc to your router, but is not leaving your router. Most home users rarely ever change the built in firewall settings on personal routers. This would indicate that either A, your modem is not operational or B, your ISP is having a problem on your end. I've seen instances when the ISP assigns the customer a dynamic IP address, the allotted time for the address expires, then the address is assigned to another customer, and the ISP does not assign a new IP address to the customer.
I'm not onsite, so I do not know all the details needed to effectively troubleshot, but hopefully that information will point you in the right direction.
