Why do all High School Story quests require the main character?

High School Story for iPhone. It seems that about 90% of the quests require the main character, tying him up for 7-12 hours depending on the quest. Which means there's no "playing" of the game. I log on after several hours to send him on the next phase of the tediously long, multi-part quest, get some coins from the building, and log off. A few ask for other characters and exclude the main one, but *very* few.

I suppose this is more of a frustrated venting than an actual question. I doubt I'm the only one experiencing this frustration. Maybe it's the game creator's way of tempting people to buy rings to rush the main character through his endless quests. Or am I doing something wrong and there's a way to trigger quests that don't require the main character?

Nope, most of the quests require the main character.

It annoys me as well, but you are supposed to be the star of the story.
