Why do all iphone unlocking sites ask for money?

Why isn't there any free ones i mean com'on stop screwing us over and give me a free unlock

Those are usually scams.ultrasn0w has provided free unlocks since it debuted. Only problem is that it usually depends on the baseband of the iPhone at the time.

I ulocked my own. You can see how to do it on you tube

"why do all iphone unlocking sites ask for money?"

Because people are willing to pay for them.

I've actually found that a lot of them are not scams. I've also never come across a site that is a scam. Maybe that's just me though.

The online ones you are referring to are factory unlocks, which actually make the phone more valuable. With factory unlocked phones, you can restore ios without losing the unlock. If you decide to sell the phone, it will be worth more because of this.

The free unlocks in ultrasn0w and I believe resn0w used to have a similar feature are free because they are not factory unlocks. These are called "soft unlocks." It's when software is used to change the baseband of the phone. Once you update or restore, that unlock is removed when the baseband is flashed, which happens with every ios update or restore unless you use redsn0w, ultrasn0w, etc.

As of about a week ago, it is also illegal in the US To factory unlock without the carrier's (of the locked phone) permission. If your device can be soft unlocked (I can't since I'm on the 4s), I suggest you do that, since it is not illegal. If it can't, I suggest calling the carrier of your phone, asking if you can unlock it and see what happens from there. Since it is a new law, I have no idea what would happen if you unlock without their permission. Luckily I don't need to find out since I'm already unlocked.

Yes as was said a factory unlock is much better and safer. The law that made unlocking illegal only applies to phones manufactured or sold after jan 26. I just got my iphone 5 unlocked few days back and was worried but i looked online and used a website that a friends of mine used before. It was www.phonetana.com. The factory unlock doesn't go away with upgrades like the redsnow and all that stuff. The factory unlock works but it took almost 30hours not 24 as they said but the phone was functional during that time.

  • Why is the iPhone 5S so expensive? And is it really worth all that money? I just got a job and in saving up for a smartphone and I really want an iPhone but I want the best iPhone. Everyone says the only difference between the regular iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s is the finger print scanner. Is this true? I have $600 but the iPhone 5S is 800-1000. And I'm sick of waiting to save up the money (but its no issue). So is it worth the wait or just I just go ahead and get the iPhone 5?
  • When unlocking an iPhone 4S does it delete all the pics, messages etc? Okay so I'm thinking of getting my iPhone unlocked from Vodafone to 3, but will it delete all my photos, messages, etc?
  • What are the music apps/sites out there today for all songs by artist? Hi, I'm kind of out of the loop - I just got an iPhone and am familiar with Pandora. Is there anything where I can just play on shuffle all of the songs by Johnny Cash or the Eagles for example? Without "related" songs interspersed. Preferably for free of course without resorting to youtube. If not, what are the closest options available? Like I said, I'm out of the loop and don't really have time to experiment with every google result.
  • My ask.fm won't let me ask anonymous? I have an iPhone 4, and I didn't update to iOS7. When the ask.fm app had an update recently, it didn't allow people to ask anonymous. So people could delete it then just not update it when they redownloaded it. Well I have deleted it like 3 times and I haven't updated it either. Why can't I ask anonymous questions still? And how can I?
