Why do CDs sound better than my iPod/iphone?

It seems that digital music is still lagging behind in quality/loudness… Why?

Because you download your digital music illegally.

I'm not totally sure why, but I think that CDs are played on a big speaker that produces BIG sound that bounces all around the room, and has great Base.
The reason they increased iTunes music prices is because of a quality increase. If you want to increase music quality, get better headphones, like noise cancelling ones or in ear expensive earbuds. It's also good to buy headphones online. Another way is (If you sync your device with iTunes on your computer, Whitch if you don't, you Really should) when you plug your device in, at the bottom of the summary menu, there's a dropdown menu that says "Convert music to-" and then you can choose what ever Kbps you want. Make sure it's the highest number (which is 200 something) and then hit sync.

Most digital music, whether purchased or pirated, is in a compressed format, such as MP3 or AAC. CDs are in full CD quality. To compare: a typical MP3 is at 256 kbps, and a CD is at 1411 kbps. Most people can tell the difference. Most people prefer the convenience of downloading, and the ability to carry around more songs. That will trump quality for most people.

It is possible to find lossless (uncompressed music) for download. Common lossless compression methods include FLAC and Apple Lossless. Apple doesn't sell Apple Lossless songs, but you can create that format, from your own CDs, using iTunes.

  • How to put cds on your itunes onto your iphone? Don't judge me, but i got my iphone yesterday and this is the first thing i'm putting on my phone from itunes. I've already put the cd onto itunes, but what do i do after that? It's probably the most obvious thing ever but i just can't figure it out. I've synced my phone, and the album is in the library, but i don't know how to put the two together haha thanks I think i've figured it out: by dragging the album onto the iphone tab
