Why do I keep putting myself in debt?
I just realize I've got a habit of putting myself in debt. I just pre ordered my iPhone xr so that's $900 bucks I owe, I'm not really worried about that but already owe like $8000 in credit card debt and I'm 22! I just went to a Honda dealership and got me a Honda Accord 2018. I'm happy because it's my first real car. I've been driving my uncles hand me down 03 Malibu since I was 18. I'm appreciate the car ty en to me but I just needed something new but I owe $35k dollars now total debt. Mostly this new car and my credit card bills. But why do I keep doing this? Luckily I do have a job that pays me roughly $3000 a month so it's not like I can't pay a $500 dollar note but still. I was always told to buy what I like and a real man gets what he wAnts no matter the price but I do realize I'm In a lot of debt and I need to stop. How can I?
What idiot have you 'always been told' this by?
You stop buying things you don't need. Yes, it's nice to have new things, it's nice to have the latest and greatest, but if you have 35k in debt you don't need a $900 phone. That money would be better put toward paying off your credit card. You may be able to afford a $500/month car note (that's huge, btw-my husband and I pay only slightly more per month for our two car notes COMBINED), but how much interest are you paying each month for your credit card debt?
Having a good job is nice, but how are you positioned if you should lose your job tomorrow? How quickly will you be underwater and unable to keep up with your debt payments? Did those people who told you that a "real man gets what he wants no matter the price" also include to you how to file for bankruptcy and live out of your car?
"I was always told to buy what I like and a real man gets what he wAnts no matter the price but I do realize I'm In a lot of debt and I need to stop. How can I?"
If you win the $1.6B Mega Millions then you can follow that advice. For the rest of us, mere mortals, it makes a lot more since to buy what we can afford which isn't always what we want.
What did it get you?
It got you a situation where you are going to work EVERY DAY for more than a year paying for a car. WOO HOO doesn't that sound fun = not.
- yes, the amount is spread over multiple years, that doesn't change that you are going to go to work every day for a full year, simply to pay for a car.
And do you still live with mom & dad, so instead of having your own apartment you are going to have a nice car but no place to really take a girl to…
You earn - $36000 a year
You purchased a car for $27000 but once you add interest & insurance on to it, you will be at $36K or more.
You apparently want to make sure you don't get to retire early.
No matter what, do NOT go to "drive free, retire rich" or if you do, continue to ignore it.
Because debt is fun.
You've never learned the difference between want and need. You really couldn't afford either of the things you just bought. You're headed down the road to bankruptcy. I don't know who taught you your attitude about being "a real man" but they were wrong.
I'm not really worried about that but already owe like $8000 in credit card debt
If you have 8k in CC debt, you're already living beyond your means. Quit buying stuff you can't afford.
Why do I keep putting myself in debt? - because you are living beyond your means
I just realize I've got a habit of putting myself in debt - well that's a start by realising you have an issue. So kudos for that.
I just pre ordered my iPhone xr so that's $900 bucks I owe, I'm not really worried about that but already owe like $8000 in credit card debt and I'm 22! - not good. In all that debt and only 22
I just went to a Honda dealership and got me a Honda Accord 2018. I'm happy because it's my first real car. I've been driving my uncles hand me down 03 Malibu since I was 18. I'm appreciate the car ty en to me but I just needed something new - No, you didn't NEED something new, you wanted something new. Big different. You NEED to pay your rent, you WANT a brand new car!
but I owe $35k dollars now total debt. Mostly this new car and my credit card bills. But why do I keep doing this? - because you are materialistic basically
Luckily I do have a job that pays me roughly $3000 a month so it's not like I can't pay a $500 dollar note - but that job hasn't stopped you racking up large debts at a young age
but still. I was always told to buy what I like - that makes you sound like a spoilt brat you realise
and a real man gets what he wAnts - No, a real man gets what he can afford and recognises his limitations
no matter the price - the price? Loan defaults? Bankcruptcy? Subsequently in ability to get credit or even rent a place to live? Were you taught how to deal with that… Or you were taught just to take what you want and da*n the consequences?
but I do realize I'm In a lot of debt and I need to stop. How can I? - firstly, you need to cut up those credit cards and pay them off as soon as possible. Then concentrate on getting the car loan cleared and don't buy any more stuff you don't need til you have done so.
A real man takes care of his finances, knows what his limits are, and provides for his family (if he has one).
Want to stop it? Quit using your cards and pay them off as fast as you can.
Because you may be suffering from a mild depression, and feel bad!

keep credit cards, as an ace in the hole, in case an emergency arises, because you have a credit balance, does not mean you have that money to spend, credit cards turn your hard earned dollars, into about .80 cents!
- Why does my iPhone send iMessages to myself? Ever since i updated my iPhone 4 to the new software I have been recieving my own texts when I attempt to text my dad. I also receive some of his texts from other people. It seems like apple linked our accounts somehow but I don't know how to separate them. We use the same apple ID but it's been that way for over a year now with no problems until now. Any help Is appreciated.
- Why does my iphone 4 keep putting its self in recovery mode? Ever since I put the newest update on it, IOS 7, it keeps putting its self in " connect to itunes" whenever I connect it, I have to do it under a new iphone, this is the third time doing it today
- Why do iPhone photos of myself stink, but flash looks good? Whoever I take a pic of myself in the day, I think it looks awful. There are shadows under my eyes and my cheeks look puffy. It also seems like you can't get too far away from the camera. At night with flash, it looks great! Is it better to just use a regular camera for day pics?
- Why do I hate pictures of myself so much? I've had professional pictures done and I liked them but when I try to take a picture on my iphone, computer, etc. I always feel like I have a lazy eye and one side of my face is lop-sided and I just look so weird and ugly. Why is this?
