Why do my pictures of the moon turn out rubbish?
I have an iphone which I take most my pictures of, but it turns out so RUBBISH with the cameras I use why?
Overexposure tends to be the problem. The Moon is pretty bright, and at night everything else is dark. You might try taking what manual control you can.
Be more specific, what exactly is wrong.
My guess is that the image is tiny, and blurred. That is normal. The moon is not very bright, so the camera goes to a long exposure time. If you move it by any amount during that exposure, then you get blurring, and it's not possible to hold it still enough by hand.
You need a camera where you can make adjustments to the settings. You're getting too wide of viewing frame, and too much light compared to a black background.
Imagine taking a picture of a light bulb. It's so bright you won't see the filament. You need to adjust for that when you take the picture. Unfortunately, the iPhone camera is not adjustable.
How to get good pics of the moon:
1. Use a tripod to eliminate blurriness.
2. Adjust your aperature. (F11 - F14 is ideal)
3. Adjust your shutter speed. (1/125 - 1/250 is ideal)
4. Shoot during moonrise so you have the ground in the shot. The moon, while close to the horizon, with an object (such as a hill or mountain) in the frame will make it appear larger.
Because you are in the UK. If you were in the US they would just be garbage…
It's pretty much impossible to take a decent photo of the Moon with a phone. You need a camera you can set up on a tripod to be steady enough and be able to adjust the exposure settings on. I have a Nikon D3000, even with it the factory lens doesn't have enough zoom to get a decent one.
Inappropriate equipment.
i've taken decent pictures of the moon with a dslr hooked up to a telescope with a two meter focal length, one meter from the scope plus a 2x barlow.
You need to be specific. Photos can be "rubbish" for hundreds of reasons. You need to tell us exactly why your photos of the moon are "rubbish".
.
My galaxy too great photos of the moon but iPhone doesn't, I don't understand.
- Why is my iPhone turning into utter rubbish? My iPhones Wi-Fi and data connection are really noticeably slower than when I got it last year, is this how they trick you now and days
- Sun and Moon not in the right place on sky guide app for iphone? I have checked the time on my settings and that is correct, but during the day the sun is shown on the other side of the world, and the moon is up and vice versa. Any ideas what's going on? Not life or death, just curious.
- Should I buy a PS Vita which is $249 to play Harvest Moon? Growing up I used to play Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on the PS1 and recently just got this game working on my iPhone 5c using an emulator, but the buttons on screen make it kind of hard to play. Do you think it's a waist of $249 buying a Vita just to play this game/other games too?
- Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
