Why do people like the idea of the Touch ID on the new iPhone?

The new iPhone has been confirmed to have a fingerprint scanner, to make us feel more "secure," but for me if anything that makes me feel less secure. I know that anything to do with the internet isn't private, but taking our fingerprints? That's a bit far.

Added (1). I just don't feel comfortable with someone, whether it be Apple or the government, knowing EVERYTHING I do whether I'm tied to it with an email or not. I don't want anyone knowing what websites I look at, what articles I read, EVERYTHING. And yeah, you can include what you're thinking of when I say what websites I look at.

It's just marketing, like everything else Apple does. They probably called this a new feature when it was on other phones a few years ago. It wasn't popular and didn't expand to other phones, probably for good reason.

But, it's a new toy, so everyone will think it's cool and play with it, and then forget about it a week later.

It doesn't use the internet; NO app developers except apple are allowed to use it. And, FYI, the government already has your fingerprint.
