Why do some people on Welfare have nice and fancy things?
I don't get it. I have a friend who's family is on welfare, but they all have Iphones, 5 flat screen tv's, and very nice cars. They just bought their 3rd car, and it's a 2013 Camaro.
Doesn't it mean when you're on welfare that you're barley making ends meet?
A system that they can't get out of needs to have some luxury from time to time, not matter how small the item.
Not when you know how to trick the system
a lot of people don't need to be on welfare but they are like in the news awhile back a women won 1m had 4 houses and she was still getting welfare
Working for cash while getting welfare in 4 or 5 different identities.
The welfare people have almost zero resources to check on the claims of their clients, so lying is common.
something else that's common is a man living in the house and contributing money [buys the food?] but, since he isn't married to the woman she gets welfare for the kids from all her previous men. [none of whom are current on child support because they're all doing the same thing].
the system is being gamed for as much as the 'clients' can get away with, and Obama intentionally made it easier to do so.
It's always a logical error to judge an entire group of millions of people by one "family you know." Every system has a small percentage of cheats and fraud. If you knew one white family who cheated on their income tax, would you ask us "Why do white people all cheat on their income tax?"
Though it varies from state to state and individual to individual, welfare, by which we mean any of the means tested anti-poverty assistance programs, is actually VERY generous. In many states you earn MUCH more on welfare than working.
In Connecticut for example, someone on all the major assistance programs, without any fraud, can earn as much in money and benefits as someone would have to work 40 hrs a week at $22/hr to match after taxes. That's WELL above the median income.
If you are willing to commit fraud, especially disability fraud, you can earn MUCH more. And many people are finding that there's no shortage of ability to defraud SSDI and SSI and Medicare as their definitions of disability are EXTREMELY loose… Even more so than the Americans with Disabilities Act.
That is not uncommon. People have learned to milk the system.
Probably making cash money and not reporting any income.
It's become much more popular under Obama but has been this way for a while now.
There are something like 120 different welfare programs and someone who accesses a lot of them can have the equivalent of a $60, 000 income - tax free, no work. You can live pretty well on that.
5 flat screen TVs.
yeah.right.
advice:
When you lie, you have to careful not to go too far.
Keep it within reason, and people will believe you
People abuse the system. There's alot of people that don't want to work and just want to live off the government
Believe the one who said they have 5 t.v.s. I know a lady, been on welfare for 17 years, she bought a $3200.00 t.v. She gets her hair, and nails done once a week. The house she lives in cost $800.00 a month. However she only pays $230.00 of it us tax payers pay the rest. I could go on and on but it gets me to upset
- Why do some people abuse the welfare system by? Spending the money to get their nails done and dinner at Ryan's but feed their kids ramen noodles while they have an iPhone 5c and a gucci bag? Should they have the children's needs met first? I'm 20 and this makes me a little angry. Welfare should only be for those that actually need it same with ebt and disability.
- Why do poor people care more about their image and buying nice clothes than feeding their family or paying bills? I see tons of poor people who make less than 20k a year spending their entire income on nice clothes and shoes and purses and makeup. Their children are starving they can't even afford to use the air conditioner or pay for electricity but they absolutely need to buy a new iPhone or a new pair of high heels
- Why do people who don't need welfare have it? I know someone who has an iPhone, expensive clothes, a huge house, and a lot of money and she is on welfare and she does NOT need it, she is also on food stamps. And me. My family makes less than 15k a year and is not on welfare or food stamps and my single mother has a job. How the heck does this happen?
- Why do people on welfare have nice cars purses iphones etc It really doesn't make sense to me. People on welfare can somehow afford fancy things like nice cars, purses and iphones. BUT NOT FREAKING FOOD. Really? I'm So GLAD that this is what my taxpayer money is going towards, buying some welfare queen's iphone plan.
