Why do the children of this generation act so grown up?

I was scrolling through Instagram and I was seeing a lot of "what I got for Christmas" posts and a lot of them were children with iPhones and laptops and things like that? What happened to kids getting toys for Christmas? My little sister is 7 and asked for an iPhone 6 and she didn't even want any dolls or anything like that. It makes me sad. I mean I'm only 20 but when I was a kid, all the cool electronic things were just coming out but they were mostly for adults and teenagers. Not children. I just miss the days when children wanted childlike things for Christmas instead of iphones and designer handbags.

I think you answered your own question. They act grown up because mommy and daddy allow them to have grown up things at a very young age--and then lament the fact that they grow up so fast.

Well, they make games and childlike apps on the electronics so… Kids want those instead. Besides those are more entertaining, kids just wanna be entertained and have fun, that won't change.

Because its the new generation!

Here is a secret, everyone thinks that with their generation. I thought that, my parents thought that, and now you think that. People also have more money today which makes a big difference, no way I would have that when I was a kid but no one had that kind of money. Today thats how everyone communicates with friends, its a different world.

Keep in mind there were generations of growing up in great depression, then industrial age, then computer age, then mobile age. Changing times as people grow old and try to get their kids better life and better education then what they had, and the next generation from today will be different still.

It is because of all the media etc, better having a proper childhood than being FED by the media to be MATERAILISTIC & impersonating an adult. Kids should enjoy being little kids.

My mom used to tell us, you have your whole life to be grown, be a kid now. She was right!

  • Why does my iPhone act weird when I turn airplane mode off? I use airplane mode all the time (To kill dangerous radiation), but when I'm home alone and my parents need to reach me, I shut it off. My phone sometimes starts acting weird when I do that. It's an iPhone 6s, and about 1 year old. Is it the airplane mode, or is it the sudden radiation messing with the technology? (Parts of my body sometimes start randomly hurting too - Adds to the fact that radiation in our daily life is not good at all.
  • Why does my iPhone 4S act up all the time? It freezes constantly, crashes, the internet can be really slow sometimes, and the iMessages send as text messages alot when the other person also has an iPhone. It's only a month or so old, how can I fix it?
  • Why do some people like to act like iPhones and iPads are status symbols? If it were, I mean you'd have the whole lifestyle to keep up. But a lot of people buy them. I'll admit they're both convenient but I find it a little weird to think anything of owning one. (This is in general, and not directed towards how people act to me - just my observation).
  • Why do so many people that own iPhones act like they are better than everyone else? Lately it seems like anytime I meet someone new, they make a point of mentioning the fact that they have an iphone, then talk about how great it is… All I asked was what time it was or if they knew when a baseball game was going to start. One person went so far as to say "if you had an iPhone you wouldn't have to ask."
