Why does my iPhone lag so much?

It's really bad when I text people for some reason? It will just freeze for like 30 seconds sometimes.

I always close background apps, close tabs in safari, etc. I delete text messages all the time, and I have like 4 GB of apps, my phone is 16 GB.

It's so annoying, it sometimes doesn't even notify me I have a new text. How do I fix this? It just started doing this about 3 months ago. It's an iPhone 4S.

Added (1). I just decided to backup my phone and completely reset it, I hope this works. It's really pissing me off.

Try rebooting the phone. If not You should restore. This would fix the laginess. Check notifications and make sure it's on.

  • What causes the iPhone app switcher to lag? I just bought an iPhone 5 and compared to my 2.5 year old 4 it's crazy fast. One thing I noticed was that double clicking the home and bring up the app switcher was instantaneous, and on the 4 it took 2-3 seconds. Although now my 5 is starting to do it. What causes it and is it fixable?
