Why does my iPhone only work on speaker but not regular?

If I receive a phone call (the ringer works) I can only hear the caller if it's on speaker. Also if I play a song (music or YouTube) it doesn't play out loud, but I see the little equalizer thinkers going.

You have fuzz or belly button lint caught in the speaker. You can try to blow it our, or use canned air to give it a squirt.

Call Verizon or take a visit there. They should be able to fix it for free, or tell you it's defective.

Check the other sound volume sliders to make sure that the ringer, media an system sounds volumes are all up.
